The Garrett County Arts Council promotes arts enrichment activities for students attending the public schools of Garrett County.

Each year, we allocate a minimum of $2,000 in grant funding for special presentations and workshops by Maryland artists in local schools. We provide additional grant funding to support high school bands and the annual Student Arts Fair presented by the Garrett County Board of Education.

We present two student art exhibits at our Gallery in Oakland each year—a middle/high school exhibit in collaboration with the Civic Club of Oakland and an elementary school exhibit.

With the collaboration of generous patrons, we fund and coordinate occasional student bus trips to metropolitan art museums.

We honor two graduating high school seniors each year with Art Purchase Awards, providing recognition to fine art students through the purchase of student work for display in permanent school collections.
